Thursday’s early mail has landed ahead of the team news coming out at 6:20pm AEST, with updates on Sean Darcy, Luke Jackson, Will Day, Lloyd Meek and Jarrod Berry.
Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir didn’t declare Sean Darcy a certain starter following a knee problem, which may impact Luke Jackson’s role.
He said: “He’s got to get through some training. He’s improved, but he’s not across the line yet. He’s got to get through training and he’s got to do a fair portion to be able to prove himself. We won’t take him in if he’s not right. We’ll get a good understanding of what he can get through and what his pain levels are like, and we’ll go from there.”
That may also impact Liam Reidy who made his debut last week. He said: “We were happy with the way Reidy went last week, and for the stability of the team, that (an early decision) is probably the best thing for Sean and the individuals involved.”
Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell confirmed Changkuoth Jiath and Will Day both won’t play this weekend, while he was “not sure” on Jack Scrimshaw’s availability after a cleanout on his finger.
Ruckman Lloyd Meek is in doubt too, having missed training earlier in the week due to illness.
Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan said Jarrod Berry was a “good chance” to play, with scans showing no damage to his hamstring after being subbed out last round.
Fagan said: “He’s a good chance. The scan was very positive. So we’ll just see how he goes today at training. He was running on Tuesday and running quite well. Seemed to be pain free. We won’t task any risks obviously. He’s a good chance to play, it was more neural type of incident than muscle tear.”
Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick noted Jack Lukosius would have “every opportunity to come back and play this week” after booting 4 goals in the VFL last weekend.
West Coast interim coach Jarrad Schofield confirmed Rhett Bazzo will play with Jeremy McGovern unavailable due to injury. Liam Ryan will miss due to personal reasons.
