UPDATES
Carlton coach Michael Voss confirmed 188cm forward Ashton Moir (pick 29 in the 2023 AFL Draft) will make his AFL debut for the injury-hit Blues. In the VFL, Moir had 18 disposals with 6 marks last round and has booted 12 goals across 17 games.
Voss said: “Ashton is very exciting. He’s got plenty of X-factor about him. He obviously plays forward of the ball. He’s been playing a bit of wing. He’s had to learn his craft throughout the year.”
The Blues boss said no other debutants will play and also confirmed Jaxon Binns will play, having been named on the wing. He said: “Obviously Jaxon Binns played his debut (in Round 7). He’ll take his position in the team.”
Sydney didn’t name Chad Warner, with coach John Longmire revealing he has a calf issue. He said: “Chad unfortunately pulled up with a sore calf so he also misses this week and hopefully should be available for next week.”
Geelong coach Chris Scott confirmed Tom Hawkins won’t play in either Rounds 23 or 24 as he continues to battle injury.
Scott said: “He is taking steps forward but I’ve seen it every day. Virtually from the moment he got injured, he’s been in at the club, working away. We’re optimistic.”
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge indicated Aaron Naughton wasn’t in doubt for Sunday’s game against North. Beveridge said he’d train on Friday and that “he’s in pretty good order today”.
West Coast interim coach Jarrad Schofield said Tom Barrass had pulled up sore from training on Tuesday and couldn’t train on Thursday, meaning he was ruled out with back/hamstring issues.
Schofield said Jake Waterman wasn’t in doubt having passed a fitness test on Friday after being unwell earlier in the week.
