The Western Bulldogs have ruled out ruckman Tim English from Saturday’s clash against North Melbourne after scans revealed a moderate grade ankle ligament injury.
Dogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said: “Scans have confirmed that he has a moderate grade ligament injury. Tim won’t play this week, and we will work through a process across the next seven days to determine his return to play plan.”
North have listed Harry Sheezel as a “test” to play this weekend, labelling him “touch and go” in their injury report due to an ankle complaint.
Kangas head of performance Kevin White said: “Harry suffered an ankle injury while attempting to smother a ball with his foot. He has been put in a moonboot to offload that foot for conservative management and to enable greater recovery.”
Zac Fisher seems ready to return from a foot complaint. White said: “Zac has had a strong 10-day period where he has been in group training and functioning at a high level He trained today and will look to press his case once again on Thursday.”
George Wardlaw looks set to be available after completing concussion protocols, pending pulling up well from Thursday training, which may impact Tom Powell’s role.
St Kilda are yet to declare Mattaes Phillipou available for next round despite only missing last round with illness. The Saints update said: “Phillipou will need to complete training this week and prove he has overcome the illness which saw him a late out of Sunday’s game against Richmond.”
Fremantle have listed Sean Darcy as a test after being a late out with knee soreness, which may impact Luke Jackson’s availability.
Freo High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said: “Sean had a little bit of knee soreness after the Essendon game. He carried through the week quite well, but unfortunately, he just couldn’t get going (on gameday). He will be a test to play this week, but again, we will see how he tracks during the week.”
Carlton have confirmed Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay and Adam Saad will all miss their upcoming fixture against West Coast due to injury.
On Curnow, the Blues update said: “Experienced a sprained ankle on Sunday. Availability: 1-2 weeks.”
Hawthorn didn’t list Will Day in their injury report after being subbed out on the weekend due to soreness.
GWS revealed Stephen Coniglio is in line to return for the first time since Round 18 due to a shoulder injury. Coniglio faces a fitness test.
The GWS update said: “The star midfielder will train fully again this week and is expected to return for the finals shaping clash on Saturday.”
GWS also provided an update on Kieren Briggs. The club said: “Also expected to return is ruck Kieren Briggs, who missed last week’s win over the Lions after being managed.”
Richmond confirmed Liam Baker will miss again due to a concussion sustained at training, while Kane McAuliffe is battling illness.
Tigers Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan said: “Kane’s been battling a chest infection the last few weeks. The doctor made a decision last Saturday morning just to pull him out of the (VFL) game, he just still wasn’t right. He’s feeling a little bit better today, so we’ll see how he is later in the week. We anticipate he’ll be okay to play.”
Adelaide confirmed that Taylor Walker will miss this weekend’s game after being struck in the eye and undergoing laser eye surgery.
Essendon ruled out Nik Cox this weekend due to concussion while Jordan Ridley (hip) is one week away and “tracking well” in his injury recovery.
Geelong revealed Sam De Koning has undergone a minor knee procedure, ruling him out for 1-2 weeks.
