It’s that time of season where it is ALL or NOTHING! Whether you’re playing for your rank, or you’ve snuck into a Preliminary Final in your Cash League, targeting players with the dream one-two punch with their fixture is the key to late season success. I’ve drilled in on how players opposition have fared in relation to conceding SuperCoach points to their primary position over the last 5 games for accurate and relevant data only! And the results may shock you…
Inside Midfielders –
The match ups that will have your mouth watering over for inside midfield opposition are Melbourne, West Coast, Collingwood and Richmond who are by far and away the easiest for scoring on. Who are the only team that is fortunate enough to play two of these sides over the next two weeks? The Gold Coast Suns! Despite the fact they have been somewhat of burn men this year, Matt Rowell – $458k and Noah – Anderson $491k should be ALL over your trade plans. They’re both very cheap options and should be very gettable from fallen premiums for those sides who are on a tight budget. The next best side to target is Brisbane, who get the chance to play the Pies who are the 3rd easiest to score on over the last five games as well as Fremantle who come in at 5th. Lachie Neale – $590k and Josh Dunkley’s – $545k form lately has dropped off which means their price has too which presents a great opportunity for you to target them for these two fixtures as well! If you need a midfielder this week, these four men should be your go to 100%!
Ruckmen –
These numbers get ridiculous… The top six teams for conceding points to opposition ruckmen are West Coast, who give up 22% MORE than their oppositions average, Geelong who give up 16% more, Richmond at 12%, Hawthorn at 12%, Fremantle at 10% and Sydney at 9%, with the latter two coming at quite the shock… West Coast and Geelong cancel each other out in the last round which is such a shame as both their other matchups are very restrictive. This leaves Tristian Xerri – $683k and Toby Nankervis – $578k as the ruckmen with the best two combined fixtures left. With the form Xerri is in, you don’t need fixtures, but it comes as icing on the cake if you can make the funds work. He gets the Dogs (who may be without English who is under an injury cloud) who are the 10th easiest and a small positive matchup, as well as the Hawks who are the 4th easiest to score on in the last round. Nankervis also gets the Hawks this week as well as the Suns next week who are the 9th easiest to score on. So yes, there is no knockout fixture runs in the rucks, but if you had to choose any, these two are your men! The Big X is definitely the X factor to get you over the line in SuperCoach finals.
Designator Kickers –
Interestingly, there isn’t many positive matchups overall for designator kickers over the last five rounds. It’s clear Gold Coast and Collingwood are the two you really need to target, as well as Geelong, Western Bulldogs and Melbourne being quite handy, but after that… it drops off a cliff! The Suns and the Pies give up 14% and 12% extra to the opposition in this role, meanwhile 11 out of the other 16 teams in the competition are a NEGATIVE matchup to them… So, where does that leave us? Interestingly, Melbourne are a part of this list but ALSO play both the Pies AND the Suns which is a huge fixture result. The issue is, who do you target? The only two players labelled as Designated Kickers at the Dees are Steven May – $507k (who may still be out injured) and Christian Salem – $380k who has put together a pretty poor 5 game stretch which doesn’t fill you with much confidence… If May does get up this week, I’m actually quite the fan of taking this punt as his form recently has been excellent. Otherwise, if these two don’t tickle your fancy, the next best is definitely to target the Saints boys. Jack Sinclair – $615k and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera $535k both pose huge upside with both their final games coming under the roof at MRVL stadium against the Cats who concede the 4th most points and the Blues who concede the 7th most to their position and are in an injury crisis themselves!
Goodluck everyone to those who are alive in their league finals and hopefully a few of these names can give you a leg up in going all the !
