The club-by-club injury reports continue to drop on Tuesday with critical updates on Zac Fisher, Charlie Curnow, Josh Kelly, Stephen Coniglio, Sam De Koning and many more.
UPDATES
North Melbourne provided an update on Zac Fisher who missed last week with a plantar fascia issue. North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said: “Zac has had a couple of weeks of management and de-loading his plantar fascia to improve his symptoms and function.
“This week will see him back in group skills and we will assess his function at a high level during main training to assess his availability for this week.”
The Kangas have already ruled out midfielder George Wardlaw this round due to concussion protocols.
Carlton have listed Charlie Curnow (ankle) as a test for this weekend. The Blues injury update said: “Experienced a rolled ankle on Saturday night but is expected to be available to play.”
The news isn’t so good for Adam Cerra (hamstring). The update said: “Scans have confirmed he experienced a hamstring strain during Saturday night’s game. The Club will work through his recovery timeline over the next fortnight.”
Matthew Cottrell’s season is over due to a shoulder injury.
GWS have cleared Josh Kelly to return from a calf injury, but Stephen Coniglio will be a test again. The GWS update said about Coniglio: “The star midfielder (is) continuing to advance in his contact training with Thursday’s training session important as Coniglio looks to prove his fitness.”
GWS have ruled out Jake Riccardi (finger) for the remainder of the home-and-away season, which may help Aaron Cadman and Max Gruzewski’s job security.
Geelong have listed Sam De Koning as a test for this round after a knee scare. Cats Assistant General Manager of Football Brett Johnson said: “Sam was unfortunately subbed out with a knee injury on the weekend against the Crows. We will continue to monitor his progress throughout the week and readiness to play ahead of the game against Fremantle.”
Essendon have confirmed Xavier Duursma will miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury and that Jordan Ridley is still 2 weeks off a return.
There was a positive update on Saad El-Hawli who is a chance to play following a syndesmosis injury. The Dons update said: “Pending he gets through training without issue this week, the 23-year-old will return to play this weekend.”
Port revealed Ivan Soldo “has rejoined full training and will be assessed throughout the week” which may impact Jordon Sweet.
St Kilda said tagger Marcus Windhager will miss another game due to his hamstring injury.
Melbourne ruled out Steven May (ribs) this round and offered updates on Christian Salem (hamstring) and Caleb Windsor (ankle), who both listed as 1-2 weeks and 2-3 weeks respectively.
Dees High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said: “For Christian, it’s all about making sure that he’s able to hit speed with comfort and that he’s retaining his strength quality.
“So, we’ve got our main session tomorrow, we’ll assess his from that and his availability for the weekend will be determined by what he can complete in that training tomorrow.
“Caleb’s progressed really well. He’s now progressing into some drilling out of the boot, and then we’re putting him back into the boot just to continue to allow for his recovery. But he’s progressed really well across the last week and a half.
“We’ll hopefully look to have him running by the end of the week. He’s got a few markers to tick-off over the next 24 to 48 hours, and then we’ll get a clearer picture of how we can progress him from there.”
