Only three weeks to go and we are still no clearer on who will end up claiming the final forward spots to finish the year. Let’s have a look at the main contenders and perhaps a few sneaky unique options.
Fragile Forwards
First, let’s assume we all have the big four in Heeney, Zorko, Caldwell and Flanders. If you don’t by now, make that a massive priority. Outside of these guys it has been a lottery week to week who the best scorers are (in fact even Heeney is just about out of that group). I would suggest that getting a solid F7 in place to play the looping game is actually a priority now. Here are the main options and a few sneaky outsiders.
Gryan Miers $707k
A tough one this week against the Dockers, but Saints and WCE to come sounds good. You just don’t know what you’re going to get week to week at the moment.
Dylan Moore $805k
Definitely the most consistent and safest of this bunch. Some great match ups coming, Moore is probably the ideal choice for F5 at this stage.
Joe Daniher $704k
Joe has a great ceiling but like any key forward, his scores tend to fluctuate. Nothing to write home about in his final matches, but you never know.
Luke Jackson $685k
Scored a whopping 45 on the weekend. Yuck… Pass.
Jeremy Cameron $683k
This is one guy I really like. Has just hit some top form and has some nice match ups coming. A great option to finish the year with.
Brent Daniels $753k
This guy has not been talked about enough. Over 93 in 4 of his last 5 with two tonnes in that. Not a great run home, but if he can keep this up a definite option.
Other guys I like, possibly even a little more than the above, but do come with more risk…
Tom Powell $655k
The new Zac Fisher… Who would’ve thought after such a roller coaster year that Powell would now have that juicy HB role and produce the scores he has. If Mckercher is out again this week (as rumoured) I would not hesitate jumping back on Powell.
Matteus Phillipou $525k
Barely missed a beat on his return from injury. Averaging 102 since going into the midfield and has Richmond and Geelong coming up. Yes please.
James Peatling $556k
Has been terrific lately, but is the most risky of the bunch. The Giants have shown Peatling the door before after strong performances and some quality mids are soon to return, so you would have to be brave. The reward is there though…
Jaidyn Stephenson $502k
This doesn’t feel quite right, but we know how many points there are to be had in the North backline and somehow Stephenson has found himself back there. Again if Colby is out, this could be a play for the cash strapped and bolder coaches out there.
Best of luck coaches with those finals and I hope you find the right one to finish your team!
