We nailed our 2 top picks last week with Xerri scoring 151 and Daicos 147 SuperCoach points. If you made it through to SuperCoach finals this week then I have some picks for you!
ROUND 20 VICE CAPTAINS
Marcus Bontempelli
Four weeks ago Bont was absolutely flying with a 4 round average of 147.8. Over the the last month the Doggies have been flying but but Bont has not been at his scoring best. It seems that the rise of Richards has started to impact his scoring. I’m not really selling this too well but The Dees have been conceding some solid scores to midfielders and are the 3rd easiest matchup for opposing midfielders. Recently against the Dees, Serong scored 140, Brayshaw 137, Callaghan 122 and Green had high disposals but not a huge score. I’m feeling a bounce back score this weekend!
Sam Flanders
It’s hard to imagine that we weren’t sure if it was the right call or not to start this guy preseason. He was an absolute pig off half back and has moved into the midfield and not missed a beat. He is averaging more than Daicos and yet to go below 100 this season! The Eagles are the 2nd easiest match up for opposing midfielders and surprisingly he has only played against them once for 105 SuperCoach points. In recent weeks Brayshaw scored 137, Sinclair 140, Neale 143 and Rivers 143. If this isn’t enough to tempt you then I don’t know what is?! He will more than likely be my VC this week!
Harry Sheezel
Sheezel will be my captain this round. Since moving into the midfield he hasn’t had a huge percentage of CBAs with his last 4 rounds he has had 52%, 48%, 33% and 48% of CBAs but it hasn’t seemed to impact him finding the footy as he is averaging 33.75 disposals and a goal a game over this period. Not a lot of match up data for Sheezel against Richmond. He has only played them once which was in round 23 last year and he ended up with 135 SuperCoach points. The Tigers are the easiest matchup for opposing midfielders and going off last week they let Daicos do what ever he wanted and racked up 18 in the first quarter. Lock him in!
ROUND 21 CAPTAINS
Tom Stewart
It was interesting to see Stewart still entering huge CBAs with 19 on the weekend. It’s not rocket science what Scott is doing with him. He attends the CBA and then slips into defence where he had 67% of his 32 disposals, 15 of those were inside defensive 50 and 13 were intercepts. Earlier this season Adelaide let Stewart do what he wanted and had 15 intercept possessions and scored 134 SuperCoach points. He has a massive 3 round average of 135.6 against the Crows. Could be a smoky this week.
Dayne Zorko
This guy has cemented his spot in the AA this season with his run and possession off half back. Earlier this season Zorko posted a massive 141 SuperCoach points against the Saints. Saints like to allow defenders to rack up high disposals with Hunt scoring 138 in Round 19. He is coming off a 129 and 138, he seems like a great pick again.
Josh Dunkley
Dunks is no stranger to playing at Marvel. After his hot form of scoring 140+ for 3 weeks in a row, he has dropped a little. This is not reflected through a drop in CBAs as he attended a game high 95% on the weekend where he scored 121 SuperCoach points. I expect a big score this week.
POD VICE CAPTAIN
Adam Treloar
The only reason this guy does not have higher ownership (4.3%) is because of his injury history. He has the highest 3 round average in the competition with 141.3 SuperCoach points. Last week he scored 146 from a season low 61% CBA attendances. He has a friendly matchup this week against Melbourne and if you have made SuperCoach finals and need a POD VC this week then lock him in!
