St Kilda bargain Mattaes Phillipou is set to miss the next 3-4 weeks due to a hip injury, while Max Gawn, Adam Treloar, Jarrod Witts, Stephen Coniglio and Massimo D’Ambrosio all haven’t been ruled out yet.
The Saints revealed bad news for anyone who jumped on Phillipou early, having sustained a hip injury in Saturday night’s loss to Adelaide.
St Kilda’s injury report said: “Phillipou will be sidelined for three to four weeks with a hip injury. The 19-year-old played out Saturday’s Round 17 game against Adelaide with very mild soreness, however scans have since revealed the extent of the injury.”
The Western Bulldogs haven’t ruled out Adam Treloar from their Round 19 game against Geelong despite being a late out last round with calf tightness.
Dogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell said: “He felt that his top-end athletic performance was impacted and he didn’t want to compromise the team.
“We didn’t want to take any risk with Adam, so we made a late change. Adam’s calf tightness symptoms are improving and we will work through a process with him this week to determine his availability.”
Fremantle all but confirmed Sean Darcy’s availability having entered concussion protocols, with his return to impact Luke Jackson.
Dockers high performance manager Phil Merriman said: “He has progressed all the way through and is on track to get through all of the protocols.”
Gold Coast ruckman Jarrod Witts is still battling to prove his fitness following a fractured vertebrae which has seen him miss their past two games.
Suns head physiotherapist Lindsay Bull said: “Jarrod is gradually progressing in his recovery from a fractured vertebrae but remains a week-to-week proposition at this stage. Jarrod will be tested later this week and will need to train fully before he can be considered for selection.”
Gold Coast rookie Jake Rogers will miss 3 weeks with an MCL sprain, while Lachie Weller has been cleared to return to play, potentially in the AFL.
Sydney have confirmed Justin McInerney has suffered a PCL injury as suspected and will be sidelined for a longer period of time. The Swans update said: “Justin sustained a posterior cruciate ligament injury on Saturday against North Melbourne. He will go into a brace for at least two weeks before his progress is reassessed.”
Melbourne’s injury report has revealed Max Gawn could play in Round 19, with the ruckman set for a fitness test later in the week after his ankle injury sustained in Round 17.
Demons high performance manager Selwyn Griffith said: “Max has progressed well. He got back into running earlier this week, and we’ll look to integrate him into training as long as he recovers well from that run.
“Then a decision on his availability will be made following that training session later in the week.”
Stephen Coniglio will need to pass a fitness test to prove his availability for GWS’s Round 19 clash with Gold Coast after “managing soreness in his left shoulder” and being subbed out last game.
The GWS injury update said: “Coniglio didn’t suffer a new injury or require a scan following Sunday’s incident, but will need to complete full training on Thursday in order to be available to take the field this Saturday.”
Mitch Hinge looks set to return after missing last round with adductor soreness. Adelaide high performance manager Darren Burgess said: “Hingey has recovered well, we expect him to train today and be fully available this week.
“He’s taken some time off, did some straight line running on the weekend and I’m sure he will get through training today and be available so it’s a nice problem to have.”
Hawthorn have revealed Massimo D’Ambrosio hasn’t been ruled out of next round’s clash with Collingwood but faces a fitness test after being subbed off last game with an ankle injury.
Hawks high performance manager Peter Burge said: “He had an ankle inversion sprain in the game and acutely, just wasn’t comfortable so he was subbed out of the game. But he’s pulled up quite well and has run straight-line today on the AlterG treadmill.
“We’ll assess and progress Thursday into some training hopefully, but there’s a little bit of work to do between now and Thursday. He’s given himself a chance and hopefully, he’ll be more of a chance after Thursday.”
Collingwood revealed Charlie Dean suffered a concussion in the VFL on the weekend and has entered protocols.
