What a wild week last week turned out to be! It’s time to ride the boys who are inform! You can’t ignore some of these numbers!
ROUND 18 VICE CAPTAINS
Nick Daicos
Last time these two team matched up Nick managed a solid 129 SuperCoach points. He has been threatening to post a monster score lately and I have a feeling this might be the round. One thing I’ll be looking out for is O’Connor being picked in the 22 as he can play a tagging role. He will be a very popular pick this week.
Errol Gulden
Alight, well at the writing of this article it was announced Heeney’s week will stand. Don’t get me started on the state of the game… Well I am expecting at least one of these Sydney boys has to fire. Heeney was the one that has decent form against North but with him being suspended, Im leaning on Gulden. He was absolutely firing in the first half last week but got put to sleep pretty quickly by a tag. He doesn’t have any past history that will convince us except for the fact the North are giving up huge points this season and could be your man!
Marcus Bontempelli
Last week was a tough week all round for the Doggies. They experimented a little with Bont Forward with Naughton going down and Lobb finding his way in defence. I also wonder how much his back had an impact on his scoring and ability to play through the midfield. This week is about as do or die as it gets for the Dogs. They are 4 points outside the top 8 and this would absolutely release the pressure valve if they could roll the Blues. If they are going to achieve this then it needs to be high CBA’s for Bont. Seems a solid option as always.
ROUND 18 CAPTAINS
Zach Merrett
Well this guy is officially in Brownlow form now and has to be considered up there in All Australian captain honours if you ask me. No Gawn or Petracca just has to help his scoring this week. His tackling, gut running, clearance work, kicking goals and most insanely 15 score involvements last week. My wife and I were viewing a house last week and Tommy had his Bomber’s gear on and the lady turned to Tommy and said “How was Zach Merrett’s 15 score involvements?” When you local realestate agent is talking up your score involvements then that’s enough for me to pick him at my captain this week against an undermanned Demons. His last 9 games he is averaging 110.7 and his last 2 scores have been 134 and 147. Lock him in!
Zak Butters
I was tweeting about the dominance early on with Butters, Wines and Rozee absolutely tearing the Dogs a new one. I watched the first half but when I saw Butters was subbed, I instantly assumed leather poisoning. Butter’s played 5th lowest TOG of any player 65% and managed 159 SuperCoach points. The Suns have looked a little average lately and last week displayed that they have started giving up some points to opposition midfielders Sheezle 141, L.D.U 114 and Simpkin 110. He is another I will be very tempted by this week.
Lachie Neale
I feel that Neale and Dunks might have a slight increase in ownership this week with the likes of Touk going down with a wrist injury. Neale is in sneaky Brownlow form and his SuperCoach scores the last month absolutely reflect this. He has a 3 round average of 147.5, 3rd best career average of 119.1 over 16 games against West Coast, over his last 6 games against West Coast he is averaging a monumental 140.3 SuperCoach points. On top of all of this West Coast are the 2nd easiest team for opposition midfielders to score against. If you are amongst the 14% ownership which is growing, then lock him in!
ROUND 18 POD CAPTAIN
Josh Dunkley
Alright, my man Dunks is back again after his 3rd week in a row scoring over 140 SuperCoach points. His 3 round average of 142.3 is similar to Neale’s and on top of this his last 3 scores against West Coast have been 143, 132 and 151 SuperCoach points. Just out of pure respect for what he has scored for me the last few weeks, I think he will get the captains armband for Yeah Na Cheers.
