I can’t believe it is already Round 15! That makes it our final bye round which is our last easy opportunity to exploit the VC loophole.
ROUND 15 VICE CAPTAINS
Dayne Zorko
Zork’s has a SuperCoach role that is absolutely to die for. He just runs around not worrying about picking anyone up and shares the kick-ins with Wilmot. On the weekend 82% of his disposal was in the back half which shows that he is the architect of their play. What seems to help his scoring is he doesn’t seem to know how to handball, with his last month of footy he has a ratio of 4 kicks to 1 handball. One thing I noticed on the weekend was even a man that has a stature of 175cm, is still able to intercept. Zorko ended with a total of 9 intercept possessions for the game! If you own him whack the VC on him.
Lachie Neale
Neale enjoys playing the Power with them being his 4th best match-up over his career. He averages 115.2 SuperCoach points over 15 games and more importantly 135.5 over his last 4 against Port. Port have experimented with the back in vogue tagger in Drew but not always to as much success as others have this season. Neale is a champ and a great option.
Isaac Heeney
Take your pick between Heeney, Gulden or Warner at the moment. After watching Heeney’s second half on the weekend I am leaning his way as he finished on 141 although in saying that Gulden could’ve ended up similar if he kicked straight as he gathered 35 disposals and 2 behinds. The Giants have been giving up some decent points to midfielders in the last month or so including 144 to Treloar, 134 to Holmes and 137 to Day. It’s Sydney midfield captains roulette at the moment but it tends to work out more often than not. With it being a bye round and if you have the willpower to hold off playing your VC until Saturday afternoon then you could do this as we have plenty of healthy options on Sunday.
Harry Sheezel
Sheez has been very consistent this season and lately seems to have found himself in the midfield role. His possession numbers were characteristically low with 18 from 19 CBAs in a game that had 37 goals kicked. His heat map showed that he spent a lot of time in the front half with 73% of his possessions in that area but this assisted his ability to hit the scoreboard kicking 2 goals. He is playing the Dees who just seem completely lost at the moment and they will be without their midfield bull of Petracca. The silk of Sheezle might come out on top!
ROUND 15 CAPTAINS
Zach Merrett
Zach enjoys the match up of the Eagles with them being his 3rd best career match-up where he averages 113 over 12 games and his last 6 he averages 121.5 SuperCoach points. Earlier this season he scored a captain worthy score of 121 with 29 disposals and 3 goals 1 behind. This is a must win game for Essendon coming off 2 losses and a bye and I expect him to take charge again.
Luke Ryan
Non owners have been waiting for a sub 100 score for nearly 2 months with his only other sub 100 being back in Round 6 against the Eagles. He doesn’t have an amazing record against the Suns but he is back on his home deck where over 6 appearances this season he is averaging a healthy 122 SuperCoach points. Hopefully the Suns continue their inaccurate kicking against Fremantle at Optus Stadium as they have kicked 23 behinds in their last 2 meeting there. If this happens Ryan will feast!
Sam Flanders
This guy has just been so solid this season. I wish I followed my own advice when he had a juicy matchup against the Saints and pumped out 152 SuperCoach points. Well going on that same algorithm it could happen again as Fremantle are the 3rd easiest matchup for opposition defenders to score against. Some recent evidence was last week Dale 136 and Bramble 133. I like this match up!
ROUND 15 POD CAPTAIN
Jordan Ridley
This will nearly be the first season I have not owned Rids. I absolutely love him as a footballer and I think he is due to join the weekly write up. Since his return from injury he has not missed a beat scoring 162, 111 and 112 The Eagles are a team he enjoys playing with only one sub 100 score and his most recent return of 130 SuperCoach points.
