Well done on making it to the final of the bye rounds for the year. After Round 13 saw some massive scores it was back to reality for many with lots of midfielders stinking it up. With most teams having had their byes trading should be easier, but will you choose the right players to complete your team?
Trade Targets
Hopefully most of you are at the stage where you have structured your team to be down to one or no rookies come Round 16. If not, have a play around with putting your best side on the park as this will dictate where your premiums should come from this week. Lets have a look at those premiums with favourable match-ups coming up to break those 50/50 calls for you.
Zach Merrett ($898k, Mid)
Merrett tops this list this week as he comes up against the Eagles who he averages 114 against. Combined with the fact he is averaging a tick over 109 and now available for under $900k… yes please.
Brodie Grundy ($920k, Ruck)
Oink Oink? The Ruck Pig is back in a big way. Has averaged 118 in his last 3 and comes up against the giants who he already had a 134 on this year. The AA talk seems to be giving him the motivation he needs and a 110 average for the rest of the year is not out of the question.
Errol Gulden ($1.00m, Mid)
Two weeks ago I flagged that Gulden looked ready to explode and boy has he done just that. Comes up against the Giants this week who he averages over 103 against and at ENGIE Stadium where he averages 132! A big price tag, but he looks a great captain option for the rest of the year.
Sam Walsh ($931k, Mid)
A bit of a weird game last start for Walsh with 4 frees against not helping the cause. After a week to freshen up, Walsh comes up against the tasty Geelong midfield and should be back to his best.
Dan Houston ($878k, Def)
Flagged as a bit of a smoky last week, Houston looked excellent against the Giants. Has Brisbane this week before the defender delicious Saints the week after.
If you have not got them already, also consider the likes of; Max Gawn, Sam Flanders, Dayne Zorko, Isaac Heeney, Harry Sheezel and Jordan Clark.
Bargain buys or traps?
For a variety of reasons we now see a number of so called “premiums” sitting well below what we would expect them to be priced at. Sometimes in this game it is hard to remember you are buying guys for what they will do next and not what has come before, but could you take a risk on some of these?
Clayton Oliver ($744k, Mid)
Still doesn’t seem right that Oliver is not just pumping out regular 100s. With Petracca now out for the season, could Clarry rediscover some of his best form? Has North this week btw…
Tom Stewart ($655k, Def)
Can you believe Stewart is down to $655k!? Surely he is too good to keep producing sub-par scores. I know he has been getting the tag, but Carlton this week who he averages 109 against. It couldn’t get worse could it?
Taylor Adams ($616k, Mid.Fwd)
A huge preseason hype guy, Adams has taken a while to find his feet at his new club. Dirt cheap and with a lack of forward options, you could do worse than a guy coming off 82 and 104.
Tom Green ($742k, Mid)
Lots were keen to jump on Green after his bye and the scores just have not come. Surely this guy is too good to not turn it around. Maybe a grudge game against Sydney is just what he needs?
Connor Rozee ($712k, Mid)
Rozee showed glimpses on the weekend but more importantly made it through unscathed. He will be better for the run and is down to almost $700k. A break even of 130 doesn’t read all that well, but a retro guernsey in a premiership celebration game against the Lions might just be the spark the Power captain needs to get going.
Well that’s it for Round 15. We will be back to normal programming, including checking out all the best rookies next week, but for now go get those upgrades!
