The injury reports are flying in with key updates on Lloyd Meek, Stephen Coniglio, Joe Richards, Jordan De Goey, Connor Rozee, Ed Richards and Tom Liberatore.
UPDATES
Hawthorn has revealed ruckman Lloyd Meek is a test for Round 12 after picking up an ankle last game. Hawks High Performance Manager Peter Burge said: “Lloyd had an incident in the third quarter (against Brisbane) and sprained his ankle. He came from the ground, went through an assessment, got taped up and went back out there. He fought on courageously and it was an awesome effort by him. He actually felt better towards the end of the fourth quarter and played the quarter out for us.
“He’s pulled up quite sore so right now, he’s a test for this week. It’s probably less likely than likely for the weekend but we want to give him every chance and assess him later in the week for the weekend.”
The Hawks also revealed rookie Nick Watson is available after being managed last game due to soreness.
GWS confirmed Stephen Coniglio will miss 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury sustained in Round 11. The GWS injury report said: “Following scans and consultation with a specialist on Tuesday, surgery has been avoided and the 30-year-old has already begun a four-to-six week rehabilitation program.”
Harry Perryman will also miss 2-3 games with a hamstring injury, opening the door for a rookie.
Adelaide provided an update on Izak Rankine who is listed as 2-3 weeks. Crows high performance manager Darren Burgess said: “Izak has had a few running sessions and it’s all going to plan.
“He’ll just progress through the rehab hurdles that we’ve got for him and he’s looking like a 2-3 week hamstring injury and is on track to be right for the Sydney game all things going well.”
Essendon has listed Darcy Parish as 3-4 weeks away with his calf problem. The Dons injury report said: “Darcy Parish will commence running on his injured calf this week.”
Essendon also revealed Ben Hobbs (calf) will miss 2-3 weeks with a calf strain and Will Setterfield could return this weekend from injury which would impact their midfield mix.
Carlton has listed Marc Pittonet as 1-2 weeks away with a finger issue which means Tom De Koning is unlikely to get an extended run as number one ruck.
Geelong listed Patrick Dangerfield (hamstring) and Cam Guthrie (Achilles) as both 1-2 weeks, which will impact their midfield mix.
Popular rookie forward Joe Richards will miss up to six weeks due to a foot injury. Collingwood revealed the news in their Monday injury report that said: “Joe Richards finished out the game against Fremantle but experienced some foot soreness.
“Scans have confirmed that he has sustained a fourth metatarsal fracture in his foot and is expecting to make a return between Rounds 16 and 17.”
The Pies report included several key updates with Jordan De Goey to miss another 3-4 weeks due to an acute rectus abdominal tendon tear. That may be good news for Jack Crisp who has been playing an inside mid role lately.
Tom Mitchell and Jamie Elliott are both still out until roughly Rounds 13-16, offering job security to some rooks. Mason Cox will miss 6 weeks with an MCL injury, opening the door for a cheap tall to play as Darcy Cameron’s back-up.
Connor Rozee owners have had a rough run lately and it isn’t close to stopping with him to be “assessed” this week after an ankle sprain.
Port’s injury report said: “Rozee will be assessed this week to determine his fitness for Thursday’s match against Carlton. Rozee rolled his ankle inside the first few seconds of Saturday’s game against North Melbourne, with scans confirming a sprain.”
Jordon Sweet’s job security as Port’s lead ruck is being threatened too, with Ivan Soldo successfully returning in the SANFL following a knee arthroscopy.
The Western Bulldogs confirmed Ed Richards is in concussion protocols so he’ll miss this week after playing an inside mid role in recent weeks. Tom Liberatore is listed 1-2 weeks away too.
