Connor Rozee is available for Port Adelaide’s Round 11 game, while James Sicily will face a test and Darcy Parish and Darcy Jones have both been ruled out for several weeks.
UPDATES
Port Adelaide confirmed good news about Connor Rozee who has missed two games with a hamstring issue. The Power said in their injury update: “Connor Rozee, Lachie Jones, Quinton Narkle and Trent McKenzie all re-joined full training last week and will be available for Round 11 selection.”
The Power also offered an update on Ollie Wines after being subbed out with heart palpitations on Sunday. The update said: “The palpitations were caused by an existing heart condition, with Wines given the all-clear by his cardiologist to train and play as normal this week.”
Adelaide confirmed Izak Rankine will miss three weeks with a hamstring inury. Crows high performance manager Darren Burgess said: “Unfortunately Izak strained his hamstring in that incident in the last minute of the game, it looks a pretty standard hamstring in terms of the length of time he’ll be out – about three weeks.
“He’s been in the pool already and will start running in the next couple of days and begin that rehab process.”
North Melbourne claimed Colby McKercher had “turned a corner” with his bone stress injury but didn’t put a timeline on his return. North head of performance Kevin White said: “The plan is to carefully monitor his pain scores when walking and once this settles to pain-free we will then look to build loads up, first through AlterG treadmill and then transition out onto the training ground.”
Hawthorn skipper James Sicily will need to complete a full week of training and pass a final test to prove his fitness to face Brisbane on Sunday after dislocating his shoulder in Round 8.
Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge said: “We made a decision as a medical and coaching team that we wanted to get some more exposures to that type of physical contact before we took the next step to match play.
“Over the weekend we did some more with him, he’ll get a little more tomorrow and we have a main session later in the week and that will give him four full sessions of full contact work and we will make that decision on Friday on his availability.”
GWS rookie Darcy Jones will miss 6-8 weeks due to hamstring tendon injury, while Essendon have confirmed Darcy Parish will miss the next three games with a minor calf strain.
Essendon GM – AFL, Daniel McPherson said: “After missing the first couple of games of the season, Darcy’s season was building nicely and he’d been playing some terrific football for us in recent weeks, so this latest setback, although relatively minor, is frustrating.
“Given Darcy’s importance to our team, we’ll use the next few weeks, plus the mid-season bye week, to ensure he is in great shape heading into the second half of the season.”
West Coast have listed Elliot Yeo as a test to return from his groin injury. Eagles high performance manager Mat Inness said: “’Yeoy’ is going really well. He had a good session on the weekend with the WAFL players, so assuming he gets through training on Thursday he’ll play as well.”
Collingwood mid Jordan De Goey is set for a stint on the sidelines following his return game, having picked up an abdominal issue as revealed by coach Craig McRae on Tuesday.
McRae said: “Jordy won’t play. He’s got a fresh injury, he’s got an abdominal strain. He got that in the game and played through it and pulled up quite sore from it. He’s getting scans now to check out what that means.
“We tried to give it some time just to see how it was going and he obviously didn’t get through it (training) and then went off for scans. We’ll find out a bit more how deep it it is.”
Fellow mid Tom Mitchell was also ruled out until Round 13-16, which is a boost for Jack Crisp’s role. On Mitchell, the Pies said: “Mitchell will continue to rehabilitate the plantar fascia issue he has been dealing with and will be unavailable for this week’s match. The 30-year-old’s injury has not improved enough to be available for match play and is expected to be available for Rounds 13-16.”
On the topic of Darcys, Fremantle are still yet to declare Sean Darcy ready to return from a calf issue.
Dockers High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said: “Sean was very close (to playing). We are on a no risk policy with Sean so he’s going to be another test to play this week. We want to see him get through main training.”
Richmond said Liam Baker will be “available” after soreness, along with Seth Campbell following a knee issue. Tigers Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan said: “He is (set to be available) as well. He’s going really well, we’ll see him on Saturday.”
There was devastating news for ruckman Sam Naismith with an ACL injury confirmed from the weekend’s VFL game. Meehan said: “It’s heartbreaking, isn’t it? He’s so important to be around the group though as a quality guy, and we saw that on Sunday when he got hurt, he was back out on the bench supporting the boys. It’s going to be really important to have him around for the rest of the year and hopefully his rehab goes really well.”
