The New Year’s Day squads were revealed with major injury updates on Ben McDermott’s availability plus an important injury update on Strikers paceman David Payne.

The Hobart Hurricanes named their entire 18-man squad for their New Year’s Day game against the Sydney Thunder offering minimal insight. However, Hobart bat Mac Wright confirmed to the Mercury today that Ben McDermott is available after a neck injury/concussion.

The Thunder named a streamlined 14-man squad for the game, with relative unknowns Liam Doddrell, Toby Gray, Blake Nikitaras and Sam Konstas dropping out.

The Brisbane Heat named a 14-man squad for their New Year’s Day clash with the Sydney Sixers, which appears likely to be heavily impacted by rain. Jimmy Peirson comes into the squad at the expense of Hugo Burdon.

The Sixers named a 15-man squad with Ryan Hadley and Izharulhaq Naveed dropping out.
