We’re fast approaching one of the busiest parts of the BBL season, where we’ve got numerous teams on the double, and a few teams on the bye as well. With that in mind, it’s worthwhile to have a look at some of the best options for the next 2 rounds.
During this period, we’ve got Round 5, where the Stars play twice and the Scorchers remain on a bye. Then we look to Round 6, where the Scorchers and the Strikers play twice, with the Thunder skipping this round.
Based off this, our best targets for the next 2 rounds are dominated by the Scorchers and Strikers, with a Melbourne all-rounder featuring as a potential boom or bust candidate. Now this article is written assuming you have Matt Short, D’Arcy Short and Glenn Maxwell. If you don’t, those 3 are above any option listed below.

Aaron Hardie (BAT/BWL $207k)
Hardie has only just taken over as captain of the Scorchers, and has already scored 182 runs in 4 innings, he will look to bowl himself a couple of overs each game, which is enough to make him the priority target for round 6. Due to his price tag, it’s not a bad idea to wait until after their second by to purchase him.
Jamie Overton (BAT/BWL)
Currently priced at 157k, he’s expected to balloon to above 190k, making him the most important buy going into round 5. His role of bowling 4 overs and batting in the top 6 makes him a very desirable option, and with his price skyrocketing of late, trading him in ASAP would be wise even though they don’t have a double game round coming up.
Andrew Tye (BWL $151k)
AJ has a quieter than usual start to BBL13, but a player of his calibre can’t be kept down for long. I expect him to return to his usual ways of picking up wickets for fun at the death, and at this discounted price, he’s a really nice candidate for a round 6 trade-in.
Jhye Richardson (BWL $170k)
Jhye only has 3 wickets in 4 games, a remarkable stat for a bowler of his quality, much like AJ Tye, I really do expect him to rebound back to his habits of taking bags of wickets with the new ball. Not to mention, he has an average of 85.6 against the strikers, a team he plays twice in round 6.
Zak Crawley (BAT $138k)
Crawley’s aggressive nature with the bat makes him volatile as a SuperCoach option, but on a double and at a reasonable price, I’d expect him to fire in one of his 2 games in round 6. Crawley won’t get the hype of other trade-in options, but has the ceiling to match them. He’s well and truly on my radar.
Beau Webster (BAT/BWL ~$195k)
We promised you boom or bust, and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered. Webster could very well thrive in a new role, batting at 3 and bowling 2-3 overs each game. With Rauf and Mir leaving, and being replaced by Dan Lawrence, a batsman, Webster will have to step up into more of a bowling role. Now take out his one massive game of 183, he averages 9.5 on the season, really making him a role-dependant player. If that role lands in his favour, it wouldn’t surprise me if he reached 150 across the 2 games.
Honourable mention: Laurie Evans (BAT $66k)
Laurie Evans is not out of form, in fact he hadn’t batted until their 4th game, where he scored 24 runs off 15 balls. He’s a game-breaking batsman who plays 4 games in 2 rounds off his bye and is only 66k due to not batting in the first 3 games. He looks to me like the perfect buy low option
