Availability is arguably the most complex and off-putting part of SuperCoach BBL. Players seem to come and go constantly due to international commitments and rival T20 leagues.
There’s no easy way to sum up availability in any given season, so we provide updated information throughout pre-season and in-season on social media and our website. That’s the best way to stay informed.
SuperCoach BBL runs from December 7 to January 17. We’ve broken down the dates per round in the table below.

Ongoing/Upcoming Clashes
Australia
5-game Test series v Pakistan/West Indies – December 14-January 29
Confirmed for West Indies Test series: Khawaja, Labuschagne, Smith, Boland*, Renshaw*, Carey, Head, Marsh, Lyon
There’s four Test batsmen who have been made available to BBL clubs for games in Rounds 7 and 8, including Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey around January 10-13.
Round 7
Tuesday 9 January, Adelaide Strikers (Alex Carey) v Hobart Hurricanes
Wednesday 10 January, Brisbane Heat (Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne) vs Perth Scorchers
Round 8
Friday 12 January, Sydney Sixers (Steve Smith) vs Sydney Thunder (David Warner)
*Cricket Australia has confirmed Matt Renshaw and Scott Boland will both be available for the Heat and Stars’ final BBL games (Jan 13 and 15) despite being called into the Test squad.
David Warner is a unique case given he’s forecast his Test retirement after the SCG Test, meaning he’d miss the two Tests against the West Indies later in January and be available for the Thunder for the Sydney Smash from Round 8 onwards. He will be available for their Round 9 double.
Afghanistan
3-game T20I series v UAE – December 21-January 2
3-game T20I series v India – January 11-17
Impacted players: Mujeeb Ur Rahman (selected for India series)
Mujeeb controversially opted out of the UAE series, declining a national team call-up which has led to ACB sanctions, effectively revoking his No-Objection Clearance to play T20 franchise leagues from January 1 2024 onwards. As a result, Mujeeb is unavailable for the rest of BBL|13. He’s since been called up for the India series.
CA XI
Four-day tour match v West Indies (Adelaide) – January 10-12
Impacted players: Liam Haskett
This threatened to be an issue, but only one BBL-contracted player was selected and he’s largely irrelevant. Good news. Peter Handscomb is available to play for the Stars on January 13, with the game finishing on January 12.
Under-19 World Cup
January 13-February 4
Selected players: Sam Konstas, Harry Dixon, Callum Vidler
These SC irrelevant players have all departed for the tournament in South Africa, meaning they are reliable loops but not DPPs.
SA20
January 10-February 10
Contracted players: Quinton de Kock, Rashid Khan, Liam Dawson, Olly Stone
De Kock will exit when the Gades have the bye in Round 7, although the club told Honeyball it was hopeful he’d remain for the rest of BBL|13. The others have already finished up their BBL stints or, in Rashid’s case, withdrawn due to injury.
ILT20
January 19-February 18
Contracted players: Anderson, Billings, Clarke, T.Curran, Evans, Hales, Hain, Hose, Hosein, Imad Wasim, Jordan, Kohler-Cadmore, Lynn, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Munro, Overton, Vince
Contracted but will wait until after BBL finals: Ellis, Sams, M. Short, S. Smith, Tye, Warner
Honeyball has confirmed that most imports won’t leave until after the BBL regular season, excluding Sydney Thunder’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore who’ll miss their final game on January 17, as he’ll exit early to captain Sharjah Warriors.
The Aussie players won’t fly out for the ILT20 until their BBL finals campaigns are done.
England
5-game Test series v India – January 25 – March 11
Impacted players: Zak Crawley (confirmed)
Crawley has confirmed he’ll miss the Scorchers’ final two home-and-away games (Rounds 8 and 9) and then finals. He will play in both of Perth’s doubles in Rounds 6 and 7.
Concluded Series
Prime Minister’s XI
Four-day tour match vs Pakistan (Canberra) – December 6-9
Confirmed: Nathan McSweeney, Michael Neser, Matt Renshaw, Jimmy Peirson, Mark Steketee, Beau Webster, Todd Murphy, Nathan McAndrew, Cameron Bancroft
Abu Dhabi T10 League
November 28 – December 9
Munro, Hatzoglou, Lynn, Sams, Eskinazi, Hales, Hose, Vince (arrives prior to R1), De Kock (arrives prior to game 2 in R1), Imad Wasim (arrives for game 2 in R3)
England
3-game ODI series v West Indies – December 3-9
Confirmed: Zak Crawley
This series ended on Sunday, but Crawley won’t play for Perth on Wednesday in the second game of their Round 1 double, instead flying to England first, before linking up with the Scorchers prior to their Round 2 game.
Pakistan
5-game T20I series v New Zealand – January 12-21
Impacted players: Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan, Usama Mir (confirmed)
All three have finished their BBL commitments.
