The Tuesday injury reports popped up around the clubs, with updates on Tom Green, Clayton Oliver, Zac Bailey and Cameron Guthrie, while Adelaide confirmed a Round 21 debutant.
DEBUTANT ALERT
Adelaide confirmed 192cm key defender James Borlose (AF $200k SC $123k DEF) will make his debut for the Crows this weekend, with fellow backs Jordon Butts and Nick Murray ruled out for the season. Borlase, who was a Category B rookie pick in 2020, has played 14 SANFL games this year, averaging 13.6 disposals and 6.6 marks.
UPDATES
Tom Green is set for a test to prove his fitness to return from a hamstring injury for GWS. The Giants said in their injury update: “Green, who has missed the past three matches with a hamstring injury, is on track to return against the Swans… The pair (Green and Jesse Hogan) will need to train fully this week, but both are looking to put their hand up for selection for a monster Battle of the Bridge.”
Melbourne High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith offered the latest update on Clayton Oliver’s hamstring injury. He said: “Clayton is progressing really well, he’ll integrate into full training. He’s unlikely to be available this week but some really positive steps for him on his return to performance.”
The Brisbane Lions confirmed Zac Bailey would be available for selection after missing two games with an ankle injury, while Keidean Coleman will miss due to eye issue, listed as 1-2 weeks.
The Lions are also “waiting to make a decision on ruckman Oscar McInerney who rolled his ankle in the weekend’s loss.”
Collingwood coach Craig McRae spoke to the media, revealing Bobby Hill would return back into the 22 from illness, while Josh Daicos left the track, but he said that was simply due to changing out of new boots.
North Melbourne listed George Wardlaw as 1-2 weeks away with his hamstring injury, while Hawthorn said Karl Amon is a test from a knee problem and Changkuoth Jiath is still unavailable with a groin issue. West Coast said in their report that Jeremy McGovern only needs to get through training to return from concussion.
One to keep an eye on for Draft finals may be Geelong midfielder Cameron Guthrie who is getting closer to a return from a long-term toe injury. Cats Footy GM Simon Lloyd said: “Cam, even though he hasn’t been playing, he’s been fully involved in the program. What we’re seeing now on the track is speed and acceleration, so he’s working through all those steps.
“He’s still going through his reconditioning and doing his cross-training and things like that, but he’s involved in group training now as well, so we’re happy with his progress and he’s tracking really well. We’d love to have him out there this week, but (he’ll be back) in the not too distant future.”
