There were injury updates on Monday and Tuesday on Clayton Oliver, Adam Cerra, Josh Sinn, Karl Worner, Josh Bruce, Tom Hawkins and Mark Blicavs.
UPDATES
Clayton Oliver (AF $990k SC $658k MID) could return in Round 22, with Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin providing an update on AFL360. Goodwin said: “He’s doubtful this week… He’s close, he’s going really well. He’s training fully. He’s probably doubtful to get through the full week this week. We’re pretty sure he’ll play the week after.”
Carlton confirmed that Adam Cerra (AF $828k SC $583k MID) will miss a few games due to the hamstring injury sustained on Friday night. The Blues update said: “Was subbed out in the third quarter of Friday night’s win over Collingwood. Scans have confirmed a low-grade hamstring strain. Will be sidelined for the next 2-3 weeks.”
Port Adelaide revealed Josh Sinn has suffered a new hamstring injury, ending his home-and-away season, given he’s listed as 6-8 weeks. The Port update said: “A hamstring injury will see second-year defender Josh Sinn spend a period on the sidelines. Sinn suffered the injury in the last quarter of the SANFL Showdown.”
Port also confirmed Aliir Aliir and Lachie Jones had entered concussion protocols, meaning changes will need to be made next round.
Geelong provided an update on Tom Hawkins and Mark Blicavs’ hamstring injuries, with the latter out for the remainder of the home-and-away season. The Cats update said: “Hawkins’ injury has been confirmed as a minor strain, while Blicavs has suffered a high grade hamstring strain.
“Both players will start their rehabilitation immediately, the Club expects Hawkins to be training in some capacity by the end of the week. A return to play timeline for both players as well as an update on their progress will be communicated as they move through their rehabilitation program.”
The Western Bulldogs confirmed Josh Bruce had suffered a season-ending ACL injury and said Ed Richards would likely return after gastro. The Dogs said he’d train with the main group on Wednesday. Liam Jones is in contention to return from an arm injury.
Fremantle said Karl Worner is a test to return from a calf injury.
