Caleb Serong received a shock suspension from the AFL Match Review Officer (MRO), while there were updates on Jake Lloyd, Chad Warner, Jacob Bauer, Jayden Short and Jordan Ridley.
UPDATES
Caleb Serong (AF $941k SC $567k MID) is set to miss Fremantle’s Round 18 game against Collingwood after being offered a one-game suspension by the AFL MRO for rough conduct (first offence) in tackle on Adam Cerra – graded careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Sydney coach John Longmire offered an update on Jake Lloyd who suffered a concussion in Thursday’s loss to Richmond. Longmire said: “He’s ok. Unfortunately we lose him this week. I think he was one of our best players last week. Up until he went off he had 10 possessions and he was going really well. But he’s bounced back ok, he’s fine and started to do exercise.”
Longmire also provided the latest on Chad Warner, who has missed their past two games with a calf injury. He said: “It’s unlikely he will play this week unfortunately. He is such an important player for us but hopefully he is available next week and we take it from there.”
Richmond confirmed the hamstring injury suffered by Round 17 debutant Jacob Bauer would only be short term. Tigers Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan said: “It’s probably on the minor end of things. Shattering, really, given the circumstances. The good news is he’s started moving again today and his mood’s picked up, and we look forward to having him back in the short-term.”
The Tigers also offered an update on Jayden Short who gained DPP status at the conclusion of Round 17. Meehan said: “Shorty’s jumping out of his skin to get back, as everyone would expect. He’s running, things are progressing really well…. We’ll see Jayden back pretty soon.”
Jordan Ridley (AF $679k SC $533k DEF) had an injury scare in Sunday’s game and underwent scans, with Essendon providing an update on Monday. The Bombers said: “Scans have confirmed Jordan Ridley has suffered bone bruising, but has avoided any serious knee injury. He remains an outside chance to play Geelong this weekend.”
North confirmed defender Griffin Logue had suffered a season-ending ACL injury which may open the door for a youngster.
