The two toughest weeks of the fantasy calendar are ahead of us, so it’s more important than ever to pick a good captain for the next fortnight! Loops for the VC available until the last game of the round, below are my top C/VC options for round 14!
- Tim Taranto
Copy paste from last week? Kept the ton run going with a 129 against Fremantle on the weekend, and it won’t stop this week with one of the easiest match ups in fantasy against the Saints. With 3 round rolling average of 134.7 there is no reason for the best player in the game to be anywhere other than at the top of the list.
- Josh Dunkley
I said last week that this man was starting to find some form heading into his bye. Well, one week after it and he is officially back. 145, 112 and 125 in his last 3, lifting his season average back up to 109.7 where we expected him to be in the preseason. We have seen him go on month long tears multiple times in the past and his ceiling is as good as anyone’s. Perfect VC option for Friday night.
- Zak Butters
We all knew Butters was going to have a moment in time where he finally got unleashed as a full-time midfielder, finally catch a break from injuries and in turn become a fully fledged premium. We just didn’t know when it was going to be. 6 tons on the trot, a 5 round rolling average of 123.4 and the moment is here, Zak Butters has arrived. Admittedly, he has had a soft draw over that period of time and has a much tougher assignment this week against Geelong, but you can only play against who is put in front of you, and Butters is currently well and truly in the Brownlow conversation, that is how good he has been. If you were interested in Butters as a VC option tonight but were worried about the match up, although it is tough, take note that the Cats allowed 7 scores of 120 or more in the 3 weeks leading into their bye.
- Rowan Marshall
I disrespected him last week by not putting him in my top 5, a decision I won’t take lightly again. Scored 129 on the weekend just gone and comes up against Richmond this week, who are an extremely easy side for rucks to score against this year. In the last 3 weeks, Luke Jackson (119), Kieren Briggs (117) and even Scott Lycett (100) have hit triple figures against Nank the tank and Richmond. Marshall is on a different level to all of them, and should be 120+ again this week.
- Andrew Brayshaw
Scraped his way to a ton again last week, which makes it 6 in a row, the longest streak of his career. 3 round rolling average of 112.7, 5 week rolling average lifts to 120. Plays early Saturday, so I’d rather use him as a VC this week than a straight C, as GWS aren’t a friendly fantasy match up, With Taranto (130) the only midfielder to score a ton against them in the last 3 weeks. However, we know what Brayshaw is capable of, and the consistency of tons since overcoming his early season niggle has me confident he will pump out another triple figure score this week.
