Melbourne have provided an injury update on Clayton Oliver (AF $990k SC $658k MID) after reports of a hamstring injury sustained in Friday’s loss to Port Adelaide, with the midfielder ruled out “in the short term”.
Demons High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said: “Clayton had some soreness at the end of the game and following a clinical assessment from the physios and the medical team, scans have shown that he’s got a hamstring strain. At this early stage, we anticipate Clayton won’t be available in the short term.
“His return to play will ultimately be guided by his ability to deal with increase loads and reconditioning. As such, we will have greater clarity as Clayton progresses through his program.”
The Western Bulldogs revealed the bleak outlook for Jason Johannisen (AF $645k SC $424k D/F) after injuring his left hamstring on Saturday, ruling him out for 8-10 weeks.
Port Adelaide provided some good news with Travis Boak cleared of serious injury after being out subbed out of Friday’s game following a hit to the ribs.
Fremantle also said cheap veteran Nat Fyfe “pulled up very well” from his first start since a foot injury.
Nick Daicos avoided suspension for a gut punch to Carlton’s Blake Acres, with the Pies young gun given a $3000 fine.
Jack Steele also avoided a ban for a late bump on GWS’s Lachlan Ash with the incident deemed low impact and thus only a $3000 fine.
