The squads for Friday’s Round 12 opening games were confirmed with Jhye Richardson potentially returning for Perth’s second game of their double, while Paddy Dooley was named despite an injury concern.
TEAM NEWS
The Adelaide Strikers take on the Perth Scorchers first up on Friday afternoon, with the visitors naming a 14-man squad with Chris Sabburg ($62k BWL) dropping out but otherwise they’re unchanged.
Jhye Richardson ($213k BWL) alluded to potentially playing the second game of Perth’s double. He said: “I think we’re tracking towards the 22nd (January) but it’s sort of day-by-day. As it stands, I’m probably a little bit ahead of schedule so I can’t ask for much more than that.”
Lance Morris ($111k BWL) starred in Wednesday’s game but eluded to potentially changes. Morris said: “It’s a tough squeeze (selection). In T20 cricket there’s a lot of stats & matchups involved… It’s unfortunate for the people going in and out. It doesn’t mean you’re omitted for performances, it’s what the team needs.”
The Strikers are yet to confirm their squad but coach Jason Gillespie confirmed Peter Siddle ($85k BWL) was available after missing last game with a back concern. Gillespie said: “Sidds is available for selection tomorrow, yes.”
Scorchers: Agar, Bancroft, Behrendorff, Connolly, Eskinazi, Hardie, Hatzoglou, Hobson, Inglis, Kelly, Morris, Payne, Tye, Turner (c)
The Brisbane Heat added Mark Steketee ($105k BWL) to their 14-man squad to face the Hobart Hurricanes on Friday night.
The Hurricanes named an unchanged squad, with Paddy Dooley ($165k BWL) included despite a groin worry from Wednesday’s game.
