The Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes named their squads for Wednesday’s clash in Perth, with the home side confirming Jhye Richardson will miss another week effectively ruling him out of the regular season.

The Perth Scorchers named a 15-man squad for Wednesday’s game with the Hobart Hurricanes on Optus Stadium, having had a selection meeting on Tuesday evening, bumping back the release.
Batsman Chris Sabburg ($62k BAT) comes into the squad. One player isn’t named in that squad is Jhye Richardson ($213k BWL) with the Scorchers listing him as “one week” away with a hamstring injury.
Perth’s final three regular season BBL|12 games are January 18, January 20 and January 22, so it’s unlikely Richardson will be SuperCoach relevant and only return for finals.
The Hurricanes named their 15-man squad for the game, with Chris Tremain ($70k BWL) dropping out of the squad.
Shadab Khan ($172k BAT/BWL) remains absent, with no update on his status after flying to Pakistan for an ODI series (January 11-15) only to be ruled out with a finger injury. Hobart had originally hoped Shadab would be available to return for either this game or their next on January 20.
D’Arcy Short ($77k BAT/BWL) may come into contention to play in his home state in First Nations round having been dropped recently.
He told The West Australian: “I feel like I’ve been hitting the ball pretty well, I’ve started the season off well with WA but I’ve just found too many fielders at the start of the Big Bash which isn’t great for me but hopefully I’ll hit the gaps instead of fielders with my next opportunity.””
