TEAM NEWS
The Adelaide Strikers named their 14-man squad for Thursday’s game against the Hobart Hurricanes at Adelaide Oval with Peter Siddle ($86k BWL) ruled out.
Strikers coach Jason Gillespie said: “Sidds has just pulled up a little bit stiff and sore. Certainly nothing serious and nothing that’s going to keep him out of games for too long. He’ll certainly miss tomorrow and we’ll assess him from there. He’s going alright. He completed his overs the other night in Hobart, he bowled really well. We’ll assess him as we go… we don’t anticipate he’ll be out very long at all.”
Henry Hunt ($63k BAT) drops out too, replaced in the squad by Jake Weatherald ($47k BAT) after an abdominal inury.
Cameron Boyce ($171k BWL) has been added too. The Strikers said: “Cameron Boyce is also in line for a debut, named in the squad for the first time after injuring his calf during pre-season training.”
Henry Thornton ($186k BWL) will return. Strikers coach Jason Gillespie said: “We gave him a bit of a rest the other night. He’ll come back in. He’s been a wicket-taker for us. We’re looking forward to welcoming henry back. He’s been able to get wickets at key times for us.”
Gillespie also spoke about the potential returns of Travis Head ($125k BAT/BWL) and Alex Carey ($121k BAT/WKP) after the third Test with an Adelaide game on January 10. He said: “We’re mapping out a bit of a plan. There’s been a lot of cricket. We want them available for as many games as possible. We want to see how the Test goes, we’ll make a call closer to the 10th.”
The Hurricanes named their 14-man squad with Zak Crawley ($125k BAT) included to replace Shadab Khan ($172k BAT/BWL), while Chris Tremain ($70k BWL) has dropped out too.
On Shadab, the Canes said: “Crawley replaces Shadab Khan in the squad, who has returned to Pakistan for national duties and will return to Australia later in the tournament.”

Rogers said: “I was a bit crook for the last couple of games, it’s never an excuse, but I didn’t perform the way I liked, I was a bit flat… but it’s fantastic to contribute to a win.”
