PERTH SCORCHERS INTRA-SQUAD PRACTICE GAME
Perth Scorchers played the second of their two intra-squad practice games at Scotch College on Friday, fielding a likely Round 1 side versus the best of the rest.
Among the key notes were Cameron Bancroft ($91k BAT/WKP) opening and scoring 58 from 34 balls, while Josh Inglis ($87k WKP/BAT) came in at 4 and got 57 off 29 balls. Nick Hobson ($83k BAT) opened the batting, making 19 off 18.
Aaron Hardie ($99k BAT/BWL) was first drop, making 29 off 21 while he didn’t bowl. Perth used six bowlers, including Ashton Turner ($105k BAT) who took 3-19, while he also made a quickfire 23* off 11.
Jhye Richardson ($149k BWL) was absent as he continues to manage his heel issue, while Jason Behrendorff ($122k BWL) bowled the 20th over in a potential role change. Tymal Mills ($167k BWL) and Faf du Plessis ($180k BAT) will arrive in Perth early next week.
Cooper Connolly ($42k BAT/BWL) played for the B-team and didn’t bowl, while he opened the batting, making 17 off 22 and actually came in a second time towards the end.
South Africa-born Perth-raised Middlesex-based Steve Eskinazi opened for the B-team and made 40 off 24 balls and may potentially be an overseas option for the Scorchers, who lost Phil Salt ($125k BAT) to injury for the season last week and are working on a replacement.
