NSW
There were T20 fixtures on both Sunday and Thursday, with Heat import Sam Billings turning out for Penrith and scoring 70 from 37 balls.
Emerging Sixers stars Hayden Kerr tuned up for BBL with an impressive 79* from 42 balls opening the batting for Sydney University, while he took 1-30 from four overs.
Sixers all-rounder Dan Christian got some much-needed gamete for UNSW, taking 2-42 and scoring 12 from 13 balls on Thursday, followed by 17 from 15 deliveries and 1-26 from 3.4 overs on Sunday.
Veteran Sixers spinner Steve O’Keefe took 1-22 on Thursday, followed by 2-18 on Sunday for Manly-Warringah, while Strikers batsman Ryan Gibson made 57 off 36 balls for Penrith.
One notable absentee from both sets of games was Randwick-Petersham’s Daniel Sams who missed NSW’s final Marsh Cup game with injury. Honeyball understands he’s expected to be fit for the BBL start.
Unsigned Arjun Nair took 4-28 for Fairfield on Sunday after 1-27 and scoring 36 from 36 balls on Thursday. Nair, who previously was on Thunder’s list, took 6-90 in Saturday’s two-day game.
Victoria
There was little of note from Saturday’s one-day games except for Mackenzie Harvey managing only 3 for Carlton. He’s only scored 138 runs in five knocks at club level, so he’s not banging down the door at the Renegades.
Likewise Jake Fraser-McGurk only managed 23 from 29 balls for Richmond, taking his season tally to 105 runs from five innings.
WA
Scorchers skipper Ashton Turner provided the highlight with 115 from 139 balls in Saturday’s two-day games for Fremantle. Gades spinner Cory Rocchiccioli took 5-59 from 23.1 overs for University.
Queensland
Heat replacement player Josh Brown continues to enhance his BBL prospects by blasting a second-innings 72 from 29 balls for Northern Suburbs in two-day cricket. He’s scored 521 runs from 12 knocks in Premier Cricket this season after a blistering T20 Max comp in August.
Jack Wildermuth, who hasn’t been in action much lately, found some form with 92 from 97 balls and 2-64 from 15 overs. Liam Guthrie took a 4fa and Sam Heazlett made 63 from 126 balls.
SA
Unsigned spinner Lloyd Pope took 3-76 in Saturday’s two-day games, while Heat recruit Spencer Johnson took 4-58.
There were T20 games on Tuesday with Thunder middle-order batsman Alex Ross managing 46 from 30 balls.
Tasmania
Gades signing Tom Rogers took 3-19 from six overs before making 34 in Saturday’s two-day games.
Canes all-rounder Mitch Owen drove New Town to victory with his third century from their past four games, finishing with 107 from 83 balls and taking a match-winning 4-19 from 6.1 overs.
