This late in the season there’s not a huge amount of relevance to come out of the VFL, WAFL and SANFL, but there’s a points to flag, led by Tom Campbell pushing to share the Saints ruck with Rowan Marshall.
Campbell had 22 touches, including 12 clearances with three marks and a game-high 42 hit-outs against Darcy Fort for Sandringham in a 25-point loss to Brisbane. If he was recalled to the senior side, it would significantly impact Marshall’s role.
Essendon’s Mid-Season Draftee Jye Menzie played a crucial role in the Bombers’ five-point win over Werribee, with 20 disposals and two goals to press for an AFL debut but who knows what’s going on at the Hangar with their coaching let alone selection.
In the SANFL, don’t expect a Round 23 recall for Brynn Teakle, managing only 14 disposals and 12 hit-outs in the Magpies’ nine-point loss to South Adelaide, where Dante Visentini did the bulk of the rucking.
Lloyd Meek also impressed for Peel in the WAFL with 22 touches and 40 hit-outs and he’ll potentially come into AFL considerations with doubts over Rory Lobb’s shoulder, which could impact Sean Darcy’s role and output.
