Sydney v Collingwood
Jack Ginnivan (AF $369k SC $250k FWD) was subbed out with hamstring tightness, bordering on a strain according to coach Craig McRae, who said he’s unlikely for next week.
Jordan De Goey (AF $605k SC $403k M/F) was a late out with a hip flexor issue. McRae said: “He pulled up pretty sore on Friday after training and we thought he’s got 48 hours. We brought him up, he got treatment but it just wasn’t improving… it’s just a tight hip flexor. Are we confident he plays next week? Somewhat. He just needs to get through training but there’s a lot to lose at this time of year.”
Richmond v Hawthorn
Richmond subbed out Jack Graham (AF $578k SC $366k M/F) with a foot issue, while Hawthorn didn’t use their sub.
Fremantle v West Coast
Rory Lobb (AF $563k SC $405k FWD) was subbed out with a minor shoulder concern. Freo coach Justin Longmuir said: “We think he’ll be alright after seven days, hopefully.”
The Eagles subbed out Jamaine Jones (AF $547k SC $365k D/F) late with a back issue.
Melbourne v Carlton
Neither side used their sub.
Adam Cerra (AF $697k SC $462k MID) was a late withdrawal for the Blues with an adductor strain. Blues coach Michael Voss said: “Cerra pulled out late, didn’t quite get going. Had a little tightness in his groin after training on Thursday.”
Voss also provided an update on George Hewett (AF $766k SC $536k D/M), who has missed a few games with a back issue. He said: “George is starting to get going a bit but I think the prognosis for him is if he does actually start to train it might be more towards the finals, more than anything else, his availability.”
Sam Docherty (AF $865k SC $502k DEF) played an on-ball role with a few key mids out. Voss said: “We had to try some different things and you walk away looking at that as a positive. We know he brings great run. He’s a great leader. He had a great impact.”
Gold Coast v Geelong
Sam Day (AF$ 365k SC $284k FWD) was subbed out with a knee issue. Izak Rankine (AF $477k SC $360k FWD) hurt his shoulder in the last quarter although Suns coach Stuart Dew said he was a chance to play next week.
Rhys Stanley (AF $559k SC $386k RUC) was subbed out for Geelong also with a knee problem but didn’t look too concerned and coach Chris Scott said it was “low grade”.
Adelaide v North Melbourne
Shane McAdam (AF $407k SC $241k FWD) was subbed out late with a hamstring tweak.
North had all sorts of issues, with Jack Ziebell (AF $493k SC $315k D/F) subbed out in the third term with a shoulder injury. Jaidyn Stephenson (AF $626k SC $399k M/F) laboured with a back issue, while Jed Anderson (AF $705k SC $432k M/F) went off due to concussion.
Western Bulldogs v GWS Giants
The Dogs didn’t use their sub, although Tom Liberatore (AF $747k SC $567k M/F) had a third quarter concussion test.
Dogs coach Luke Beveridge revealed that Marcus Bontempelli (AF $852k SC $661k M/F) was carrying an adductor issue. He said: “He finished the game off alright, which is huge for him. He’s struggling a little bit with a niggle or two. He’s got a bit of an adductor thing going on. They were sure he’d get through the game.
“He’s not 100% but I don’t think many players at this point in time are absolutely running on top of the ground. He pushed through a bit of discomfort today. When it mattered in that last quarter, he really stood up for us.”
Lachlan Keeffe (AF $339k SC $264k DEF) was subbed out with a groin concern, while caretaker coach Mark McVeigh confirmed Tanner Bruhn (AF $361k SC $223k M/F) has entered concussion protocols.
McVeigh also revealed Tim Taranto (AF $769k SC $473k M/F) will return from concussion next round. He said: “Tim Taranto will be available for us next week. There’s a couple to come back.”
St Kilda v Brisbane Lions
Jimmy Webster (AF $519k SC $370k DEF) was subbed off in the first quarter with a hamstring strain which coach Brett Ratten would end his season.
Brad Crouch (AF $891k SC $555k MID) was offered a one-game suspension for Rough Conduct with a bump on Darcy Gardiner.
