There’s only three rounds left and head-to-head league finals are in full swing, so it’s shrewd to glance ahead to the upcoming fixtures to help guide trading and captain/vice-captain decisions. Your focus is now very short term.
So analysing which sides tend to concede the most or least points and who’s playing them in the final three rounds is very useful. It shouldn’t dictate decisions, but it should be considered, especially around 50-50 calls.
Of course, looking across the data from all previous 20 rounds can misleading as sides improve or their form fluctuates, so to combat this we’ve crunched the data for the whole season, plus the last four rounds, to offer some form.
For example, Essendon have become much tougher to score against recently, while GWS have conceded some big scores lately. The tables below include average scores conceded, across the full season and the past four rounds.
With that in mind some of the sides with the best runs are Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn, Gold Coast, Fremantle and Port Adelaide, while the toughest go to Collingwood, Brisbane Lions and St Kilda.
