Melbourne are still yet to rule out Clayton Oliver for Round 18 despite a thumb fracture, while there were updates on Dustin Martin, Toby Nankervis and young ruck Brynn Teakle.
UPDATES
Clayton Oliver (AF $957k SC $722k MID) still remains unlikely to play this upcoming round but the Demons are yet to rule a line through him.
Melbourne Club Doctor Laura Lallanec said: “He fractured his thumb in our game against Geelong last week. He’s unlikely to play this weekend but we’ll give him every chance to get up for our game in Alice (Round 18). Otherwise we’re hopeful of a return against the Bulldogs (Round 19).”
Many thought Brynn Teakle’s (AF $192k SC $102k R/F) season may be over with a collarbone injury but Port have revealed he’s in the mix. The club update said: “Teakle is continuing to progress towards playing again following a collarbone injury, he is expected to be in contention to return next weekend.”
Dustin Martin (AF $592k SC $430k M/F) has been ruled out for another week with a hamstring injury. Richmond Physical Performance Manager Peter Burge said: “He won’t be available this week, and given next week it’s a short turnaround on the Friday night, it’s going to be touch and go.”
Toby Nankervis (AF $719k SC $546k RUC) hasn’t been ruled out of Round 18 due to a PCL injury. Burge said: “A typical PCL-type injury…He’s in the doubtful category right now, we want to have another look later in the week…he’s not completely out of the frame for the weekend.”
