Role plays a big part in determining a player’s AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach scoring potential. In this weekly subscriber-only column, we reflect on the past round’s CBAs, kick-ins and TOG% for an insight.
Fremantle v Port Adelaide
CBAs (32): Andy Brayshaw (28) had his equal highest CBA percentage of the season at 88% and scored 121/134, while Nat Fyfe had zero CBAs. Connor Rozee’s (19) CBAs dropped this week down to 59%, having had 80% and 78% in the past two games.
Kick-Ins: Luke Ryan (3/3) took most of Freo’s kick-ins. With Riley Bonner out, Ryan Burton (5/4) took Port’s most with Dan Houston (2/2) only getting two of their nine.
TOG%: Will Brodie was down at 68%, with Nat Fyfe (77%) and David Mundy (76%) getting more on-field time but way fewer CBAs. Port’s Jase Burgoyne had high TOG for a debutant, going at 86.

GWS Giants v Hawthorn
CBAs (22): Tim Taranto (8) only went at 36% despite his return of 125/111 in his second game back from injury. Stephen Conligio’s (18) role remains strong.
Tom Mitchell (13) attended 59% of CBs which is close to his 57% season average, scoring 119/118.
Kick-Ins: Harry Himmelberg (4/4) and Isaac Cumming (3/3) shared the GWS duties, while James Sicily (3/3) had half of Hawthorn’s.
TOG%: Taranto was back up to 87% in his second game after a back injury. Sicily was the only player to play 100%. Tom Mitchell was down at 79%.

Richmond v West Coast
CBAs (37): Dustin Martin (13) spent more time in the middle than usual before going off shortly after half-time injured. In the absence of Dion Prestia and Trent Cotchin, Liam Baker (18) and Shai Bolton (21) had higher CBAs. Nic Naitanui (27) returned and dominated the ruck, while debutant Zane Trew attended 17 CBs.
Kick-Ins: Nathan Broad (5/4) had the highest kick-ins for Richmond, scoring 112/115 with the duties shared and Jayden Short getting none for the ninth straight game. Elliot Yeo’s (2/2) injury meant Shannon Hurn (5/3) had most of West Coast’s kick-ins.
TOG%: Short played 80% TOG despite his high CBAs (23). Eagles debutant Zane Trew was among the lowest at 68%.

Gold Coast Suns v Collingwood
CBAs (21): Normal set-up for the Suns, while the return of Jordan De Goey (12) bumped Jack Crisp (1) down lightly. Darcy Cameron (11) had his lowest CBA percentage (52%) since taking over from Brodie Grundy, with an increasing role for Mason Cox (10).
Kick-Ins: Oleg Markov (4/4) and Jack Bowes (3/3) took plenty of Gold Coast’s kick-ins and will likely have more responsibility with Connor Budarick (3/3) suffering an ACL injury. Nick Daicos (6/6) boosted his score up to 117/143 with six of the Pies’ 14 kick-ins.
TOG%: Suns debutant Hewago Paul Oea only played 49% TOG. Jordan De Goey was at 83% on his return after personal leave but struggled for impact, scoring 37/44.

Geelong v North Melbourne
CBAs (28): Patrick Dangerfield (14) returned from injury, coinciding with Joel Selwood being managed. Quinton Narkle (17) also came back into the midfield mix. For North, Todd Goldstein (18) continues to have more CBAs than Tristan Xerri (10).
Kick-Ins: Geelong only had two kick-ins, so hard to get a read on that without Tom Stewart. One to monitor. With Aaron Hall going down injured, Jaidyn Stephenson (8/8) went back and his side’s most kick-ins, scoring 97/86.
TOG%: Patrick Dangerfield was low at 62% on his return from injury.

Adelaide v Melbourne
CBAs (27): Fairly standard midfield set-up for the Crows. Christian Petracca’s (16) were down to 59% compared to his season average of 82% but his scoreboard impact helped him post 141/189.
Kick-Ins: Jordan Dawson (5/4) boosted his score of 129/144 with kick-ins. Christian Salem (3/3) took more than Steven May (2/2) for Melbourne.
TOG%: Dawson had high TOG at 93%. Dees onballers Clayton Oliver and Petracca dominated and both had 89% TOG.

Essendon v Sydney
CBAs (30): Darcy Parish (19) slotted back in after a calf injury. Ben Hobbs (5) had his most CBAs since Round 9, scoring 71/78. Callum Mills (15) CBAs were down to 50% compared to his 62% season average, scoring only 54/85.
Kick-Ins: Jordan Ridley (7/6) took Essendon’s most kick-ins but only scored 67/80. Jake Lloyd (3/2) and Nick Blakey (2/2) shared the Swans’ kick-in duties as per usual.
TOG%: Ben Hobbs had a late point scoring surge with TOG still low-ish at 71%. Darcy Parish played 80% on his return from injury.

Carlton v St Kilda
CBAs (28): Adam Cerra returned from injury but didn’t attend any CBs, having averaged 54% across the season, scoring 62/45. Jack Steele had 25 CBAs in his second game after injury, scoring 114/107.
Kick-Ins: Sam Docherty (6/5) had Carlton’s most kick-ins. Jack Sinclair (9/7) fueled his score of 140/150 with plenty of kick-ins, with Carlton’s inaccuracy helping.
TOG%: Docherty was down at 77% and blanketed with a Marcus Windhager tag.

Brisbane Lions v Western Bulldogs
CBAs (28): Fairly standard set-up for Brisbane, likewise the Dogs with Tom Liberatore (22) having CBs above 70% for the third straight week, scoring 128/144.
Kick-Ins: Daniel Rich’s (4/4) early injury meant duties were shared with Keidean Coleman (3/2) boosting his score up to 105/118. With Caleb Daniel out of the side, Bailey Dale (8/8) had main kick-in duties and went large with 117/134.
TOG%: Lachie Neale had typically high TOG for a mid at 93%. Jarryd Lyons was low at 72% after a ribs issue last week. Debutant Dom Bedendo played 78%.
