Stephen Coniglio’s midfield role was reiterated, while there were updates on injuries to Nat Fyfe, Patrick Parnell, Josh Rachele and Reef McInnes and Carlton confirmed the return of a forgotten defender.
UPDATES
GWS caretaker coach Mark McVeigh spoke about the role of Stephen Coniglio (AF $704k SC $431k M/F) on ABC Radio.
He said: “We’ve seen that in the last two weeks, he’s been really good for us. He’s probably had a bit of a positional change. We’ve settled him a little bit in the midfield. He was playing that pseudo half-forward/mid type role. He’s responded in a really good way.”
Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir confirmed the likely return of Nat Fyfe (AF $709k SC $546k MID) and his role on AFL 360. He said: “We’re pretty confident he’ll be right to come back into the team this week… It’s about getting the balance right to go to work at stoppage but also spend time forward.”
Adelaide provided an update on debutant Patrick Parnell (AF $212k SC $123k DEF). Crows High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said: “Had a pretty severe cork and was unable to finish the game. He’s pulled up pretty sore and he’ll be assessed, we’re fortunate that we have the extra week before he has to play.”
Burgess also spoke about Josh Rachele (AF $413k SC $232k M/F). He said: “Josh’s corked thigh has almost resolved… we are confident he’ll be able to train this week and next week and be available for the next game.”
Collingwood confirmed it is season over for Reef McInnes (AF $267k SC $174k MID) who will undergo a shoulder reconstruction later this week.
Carlton announced that Caleb Marchbank (AF $294k SC $209k DEF) will play this round in the AFL for the first time since 2019 due to injuries.
