Some big names avoid any time on the sidelines despite concerns, a debutant is confirmed and it is mixed news for those pushing for selection. We’ve also been given the great news, that from Round 10 the Thursday teams will return.

DEBUTANT ALERT

Malcolm Rosas Jnr (AF $170k SC $123k FWD) will make his debut for the Gold Coast Suns this weekend. Gold Coast’s website said: “Livewire small forward has been rewarded after strong performances in the pre-season & across the first 3 rounds of the 2021 VFL Season.”

UPDATES

Following the carnage of Monday, coaches were holding their breath regarding two prominent stars of the competition. Jack Ziebell (AF $829k SC $599k D/F*) was not mentioned in the North Melbourne injury report.

Christian Petracca (AF $818k SC $560k MID) was also given the all-clear by their Head of Strength and Conditioning Selwyn Griffith: “He received a corkie at the end of the game but he’s recovering well & will be in a great space for this week’s game.”

Riley Thilthorpe (AF $341k SC $236k F/R) and Jordon Butts (AF $320k SC $321k DEF) have both been cleared following scans to play this weekend for the Crows.

North Melbourne’s injury list continues to grow. After Jaidyn Stephenson (AF $591k SC $392k M/F) was ruled out yesterday for 4-6 weeks. North Melbourne delivered some more news on the injury front regarding a Dom Tyson (AF $409k SC $243k MID) calf injury and Jed Anderson (AF $783k SC $562k MID) on-going ankle issue.

Anderson is still some time away, with North Football GM Brady Rawlings saying: “We’ll expect to see him at some point after the bye.” Whilst Rawlings said North will be cautious with Tyson, stating: “We’ll be really conservative with his management.”

Aiden Bonar (AF $366k SC 316k DEF) will also miss 8-12 weeks with an ankle injury.

All this should increase the job security for Charlie Lazzaro (AF $267k SC $171k M/F), Will Phillips (AF $279k SC $195k M/F), Atu Bosenavulagi (AF $304k SC $214k FWD) and Tom Powell (AF $536k SC $381k M/F).

Luke Ryan (AF $623k SC $540k DEF) won’t be making a return this week. Freo Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell said: “Luke‘s going well but, at this stage, he’ll be at least a week away.”

Dogs ruck Tim English (AF $595k SC $491k RUCK) is still in some doubt for this week with persistent headaches. Whilst Stefan Martin (AF $414k SC $284k RUCK) will miss 2-4 weeks. This may mean an extended run of games for Jordon Sweet (AF $244k SC $123k RUCK)

Scott Lycett (AF $608k SC $480k RUCK) has been suspended for four matches for engaging in rough conduct. This could mean a debut for Sam Hayes (AF $170k SC $123k RUCK) who was mentioned yesterday by Michael Voss.

Tyler Brockman (AF $284k SC $172k M/F) yet again was discussed with not a lot of confidence by VFL coach Sam Mitchell who said: “His structure & decision-making continues to be a work in progress but he is showing some promising signs.”
