TEAM NEWS

Rookie Ned Cahill (AF $196k SC MID/FWD) got the chop for Essendon, while Sam Jacobs (AF $518k SC $413k RUCK) has been managed for the Giants.

Callan Ward (AF $556k SC $488k MID) comes back after injury and Shane Mumford (AF $444k SC $410k RUCK) gets his opportunity with Jacobs out.

Xavier O’Halloran (AF $170k SC $123k MID) is named to make his debut. Essendon ruckman Sam Draper (AF $197k SC RUCK) has also held as flagged on Wednesday.

DEBUTANT ALERT
Xavier O’Halloran
(AF $170k SC $123k MID) is a pick 22 from the 2018 AFL Draft. He’s a 186cm hard-running midfielder.

EAGLE UPDATES
Harry Edwards (AF $170k SC $123k DEF) looks set to be cleared and available for selection after concussion in his Eagles debut.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said: “He’s passed his cogstate test. Whether we take a young player in after concussion, we’ll make that decision. It depends a bit on Gov. He’s feeling a lot better and has passed his tests.”

West Coast’s Jeremy McGovern (AF $514k SC $456k DEF) appears set to return from a thumb injury, which will likely mean Edwards misses out.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said: “(McGovern) got through (training today), so he’s more likely than unlikely. We’ll see how he goes at captain’s run on Saturday and if he gets through that he’ll likely be right to play.”

Simpson also provided an update on Jarrod Brander (AF $354k SC $232k DEF/FWD). Simpson said: “He went out of the side after Port. He had a back issue. Then we won 5 in a row so unfortunately he’s been a victim of the team’s success. His form was OK but it didn’t warrant coming straight back in.”

Simpson also flagged a potential debutant in Nicholas Reid (AF $170k SC $102k FWD), with an injury cloud hovering over small forward Liam Ryan.

He said: “Nic Reid is not far off from debuting for the footy club… Hopefully Liam (Ryan) is OK and we don’t have to worry about it.”

OTHERS
Cam Rayner
(AF $494k SC $386k MID/FWD) will miss three to four weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered earlier in the round.

Lions High Performance Manager Damien Austin said: “There’s a little bit of damage there so we are probably looking at three to four weeks. He has pulled up pretty well but we will go by his symptoms and see how he goes.”

Dogs defender Hayden Crozier (AF $538k SC $426k DEF) was ruled out for Round 11 with a toe injury and will miss three weeks.

TOMORROW
Damien Hardwick, David Teague and Luke Beveridge will all speak to the media. Essendon will play GWS and we’ll get the teams for the first two games of Round 11 between Port-Richmond and Brisbane-Bulldogs.
